How do I add a photo to a memorial?
Go to the memorial where you would like to add a photo. Select the Add Photos button.
'Select photos' from your device or drag and drop the photo(s) into the box provided. A thumbnail of the photo will display. Select the photo type (Grave, Person, Family, Other) and add an optional caption. If the grave photo has GPS and the GPS location is located within the cemetery, a map displays with the GPS pin and you can adjust it if needed for the exact grave location.
Select Add. A green bar displays when the photo is fully uploaded.
What is a linked photo?
We made some changes to our image upload process for memorial pages on Nov. 4, 2026. If you upload a photo through a memorial after this date and then upload the same photo to a different memorial, the system will recognize that and ask you to link that photo to the other memorial. The message explains, "This photo was previously uploaded and may be linked to more than one memorial. Click 'Add' to link the photo to this memorial." This will add the existing photo to the other memorial. It also will link the same GPS from the grave photo, unless the GPS pin is moved or the GPS is outside the cemetery boundaries.
Linking photos together allows the photo to be stored once and display on different memorials. The same caption will display wherever the photo is linked. A photo or a photo that is linked can be deleted from a memorial without affecting the other photo.
Add a caption
An optional caption helps explain or elaborate on the photo in a few lines.
General photo guidelines:
- Photos larger than 8 MB will be optimized and reduced.
- Photos larger than 20 MB will not be accepted.
- Each contributor can upload a maximum of 5 photos for a memorial.
- A memorial can have a maximum of 20 photos from all contributors.
- The sponsor of a memorial may add an additional 10 photos (for a total of 30 on the memorial).
- Include GPS location with grave photos where possible.
- No animated GIFs, photos with additional graphics (borders, embellishments.)
- No post-mortem photos.
- No AI-generated or digitally created images.
Can I add a photo anonymously?
No, photos cannot be added anonymously. After you upload the photo, your profile name will display as 'Photo added by Profile name' underneath the photo.
